EXPLAIN ABOUT LABOR LAW OF BANGLADESH WITH CLAUSES

 The labor laws in Bangladesh are designed to protect the rights of workers and establish a framework for fair and just compensation. There are several laws and regulations in place to ensure that workers are treated fairly and their rights are protected.

One of the most important laws is the Bangladesh Labor Act, 2006, which sets out the basic rights and responsibilities of workers and employers. This act covers issues such as wages, working hours, health and safety, and the right to form unions.




Some of the key clauses in the Bangladesh Labor Act, 2006 include:

  • Clause 34: This clause requires employers to provide workers with a minimum wage that is commensurate with their skill level and the work they are performing. The minimum wage is determined by the government and is periodically revised.

  • Clause 92: This clause establishes the right of workers to form and join unions. Employers are prohibited from discriminating against workers who join or participate in union activities.

  • Clause 102: This clause requires employers to provide safe and healthy working conditions for their employees. Employers must take steps to prevent accidents and occupational diseases, and provide first aid facilities and protective equipment where necessary.

  • Clause 115: This clause sets out the maximum number of hours that an adult worker can work per week, which is 60 hours. Workers are also entitled to one day off per week.

  • Clause 147: This clause establishes the right of workers to receive severance pay if they are terminated without cause. The amount of severance pay is based on the worker's length of service and is typically calculated as a multiple of their monthly wage.






Other important labor laws in Bangladesh include the Labor Union Law, 2006, which sets out the procedures for forming and registering a union, and the Child Labor (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 2010, which prohibits the employment of children under the age of 14 in certain types of work. The Bangladesh government has also recently enacted the Safe and Fair Workplace Act, 2018, which aims to ensure that workplaces are safe and conducive to productivity.
